| Area of a circle functional reasoning activity | This activity is for students to get some practice with functional reasoning. In an introductory acoustics class we look at the relationships between frequency of a spring-mass system and the spring constant and mass. Students struggle with what happens to the frequency as the spring constant or mass is changed. This activity provides a way to scaffold prior knowledge which can be used to make the connection to the spring-mass system. | High School, Undergraduate (Freshman/Sophomore) | Area_of_circles_activity_for_PHYS_110 (2).pdf | ||
| Three tones - same pitch, different timbre | This is a recording of three different musical instruments playing the same pitch at the same amplitude and for the same duration. The recording can be used to discuss timbre and spectrum. | Middle School / Junior High, High School, Undergraduate (Freshman/Sophomore) | 3TONES.wav | ||
| PhET Simulation - Wave interference | Excellent simulation of wave interference from the PhET project. | Middle School / Junior High, High School, Undergraduate (Freshman/Sophomore) | https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/wave-interference | ||
| PhET simulation - Wave on a string | A simulation from the PhET project of waves on a string. Includes configurable boundary conditions. Also good introduction to the concept of resonance. | Middle School / Junior High, High School, Undergraduate (Freshman/Sophomore) | https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/wave-on-a-string | ||
| JUST TESTING THE FORM AND SPREADSHEET | Looking to see what happens when there are multiple files in multiple fields | Elementary School, Middle School / Junior High, High School, Undergraduate (Freshman/Sophomore), Undergraduate (Junior/Senior), Graduate/Post-graduate | SMH-Sound Scavenger.odt SMH-Sound Scavenger.doc | 358421__mtg__sax-alto-c4.wav 356134__mtg__violin-c4.wav 374273__samulis__tubular-bells-c4-tb-hit-c4-v4-rr1.wav 358397__mtg__sax-alto-a4.wav 357382__mtg__trumpet-c4.wav 205822__xserra__organ-c3.wav |
